Leonard Zion Finding Another Voice ~ Moments of Wonder is a celebration of life through a collection of inspirational and motivational poetry written by Leonard Zion. After suffering a stroke with resulting Aphasia in 2001, leaving him unable to speak, Finding Another Voice became Leonard's quest to explore new ways to express his thoughts through poetry. Referring to his stroke as his "Stroke of Luck", Leonard's is a journey of loving each Moment of Wonder through learning, living and participating fully in his recovery in the face of unknown odds. His poetry expresses his inner vision and heart as he voyages through the unknown, from the practical, to the joyful, the mystical, feared, poignant, grateful and memorable moments of his life. Most of all, Finding Another Voice ~ Moments of Wonder is a celebration of our wondrous capabilities when heart and mind are joined. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Special Note: My father, Leonard, suffered a second stroke in May of 2006 and passed on June 16,2006. That same evening he was being honored by the National Aphasia Association at their annual banquet in Boston. The trumpets sounded as he continued his journey. My mother, Deborah, was his loving wife and partner of 56 years, always by his side, encouraging and supportive, with deepest admiration. She was also his editor and joyfully saw the book in its final form just days before she went to join my father on November 20, 2006. Thank you both for so many "Moments of Wonder" -Tefilah...) "Stroke is by its nature an isolating disease". In the first instance it isolates you as a person from your brain, then from parts of your body, your memory, your ability to communicate, your capacity to understand what is happening. The effect of this is to isolate you from your family and loved ones, your work, your social life, your life outside of your home or a hospital ward. It is the cruelest and loneliness of afflictions". Go to White Ladder Press to buy book, click here.

The roller coaster of living with someone who has had a stroke. This is a good book to read be you a care giver or a stroke survivor. The book is described as comforting, helpful and practical. To buy this book, click publishers link here.

God isn't finished with me yet is a true story of faith, hope, love and determination to succeed. Kathy suffered with Aphasia, she went for years of speech therapy. She fought the battle of aphasia. Kathy Hughes remained driven by the conviction that in spite of what seemed a limited hope for recovery, God had not finished with her. Click here to go to Kathy's Website

I found my words since I had my stroke in 2002. Aphasia is not the dead road for people. I had to read or reread books the first time, and I had to relearn to write. I could barely speak and write since I had a stroke. I am a writer. I had to reread for my published articles. I was lost. The language was dense and foggy. Who wrote this anyway? I thought. My brain was fried! I had to retype my articles in my computer. It was not simple, just reading and writing. It was hard. I had to write my life in paper, my condition and my dilemma. Here is my life in this book... Ed Bas, Barkin' Dog How to Talk with Aphasia, contact PublishAmerica.com or call 301-695-1707, softcover, $16.95 plus shipping.
