Good attitude toward what you are doing was difficult before your stroke. Now that you have had a stroke it can seem like you will never have a good attitude toward therapy and all those things that you need to do to get better than you are. So how do we put it in perspective. After many of our illnesses we may have had in our life, we could return to normal within a few days or weeks. Even for some surgeries, the person goes home and recovers quickly. Stroke lies to us, tells us nothing is happening for the better for us and can easily impede any progress we may make and even drive us to give up Progress is so imperceptibly slow, that you can't notice any progress. The trick is,  not to give up and to do something every day to improve our lot. Practice over time was what we were used to, now it's consistant practice over a long period of time for us to get something back. For me it took a total of three non stop years and I still have some deficits, but I'm glad I made the journey, the journey is worth it. I could not compare my progress with anyone else. Everyones progress is their own. Do not look at yesterday or tommorrow, stay in the day and do what you need to that day.
