MEMORYTHERAPY

Shortterm memory is something that usually fails us after our stroke. Thedegree of short term memory loss depends on the stroke of theindividual. It is something that you can improve upon after yourstroke. Here are some things that may that you might try.
A.)Anymemory exercise that you can think of on top of these will help withyour memory retention. The old adage, use it or lose it applieshere. Exercise your mind, do not lose it.
B.)Havesomeone give you 3 words to remember like Dog, Cat and Mouse. Talkfor a while. Then as them to recall the three words. This willimprove over time the more you do it. If you notice these firstthree words are from a category, animals. Like categories are goodto start with and then mix them up like Dog, Door and Diamond. Thesethree all start with the same sound. Then mix them up again likeDog blanket and map.
C.)Jigsaw puzzles help the memory too.
D.)Crosswordpuzzles.
E.)Writeshort stories or keep a journal (this will also help with dexterity skillsin the fingers).
F.)Readthe newspaper and have someone quiz you on it.
G.)Practicespelling your name backwards and writing it.
H.)Witha deck of cards, see how many you can remember starting with justthree.
I.)Tryto remember three words the next day or more.
